Who May Qualify for EEOICPA in Illinois?

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) is a federal program designed to support energy workers who became ill as a result of work-related exposure at covered Department of Energy facilities. Eligibility depends on where and when you worked, your role, and your medical diagnosis.

In Illinois, individuals who worked at DOE facilities such as the Argonne National Laboratory, the former University of Chicago Metallurgical Laboratory (Met Lab),, or for covered contractors or subcontractors, may qualify if they later developed a covered illness related to occupational exposure. Covered conditions can include certain cancers, chronic silicosis, beryllium sensitivity, or chronic beryllium disease.

If you are unsure whether EEOICPA applies to you, you are not alone. Our team is here to listen, provide clarity, and help you understand whether support may be available—so you can move forward with confidence, dignity, and peace of mind.

Who We Are

United Energy Workers Healthcare was born from family roots in the uranium mines of Blanding, Utah, where the long-term impact of exposure was felt firsthand. That personal history shaped our purpose and our mission: to elevate the lives of energy workers with unwavering compassion and whole-person care. For more than a decade, we have been honored to serve energy workers and their families across Illinois, standing beside them with purposeful, in-home care that supports dignity, independence, and life at home. What began as a promise to care for our own has grown into a trusted commitment to energy workers nationwide.
